    CONCORD — The public got its first good look at four of the five finalists to be the next Contra Costa District Attorney, in a Saturday forum that focused mostly on criminal justice reform and keeping more people out of jail.

    On Thursday, May 4th, Patrick Vanier, Supervising Deputy District Attorney for the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office Narcotics Prosecution Team, announced his campaign for Contra Costa County District Attorney. He was was joined by supporters at the Amador Rancho Community Center in San Ramon and will take on embattled incumbent D.A. Mark Peterson.

    MARTINEZ — A civil grand jury has recommended that Contra Costa’s top law enforcement officer be removed from office, citing revelations that he secretly misappropriated tens of thousands of dollars in campaign money over several years.

    SAN RAMON — Santa Clara county Prosecutor Patrick Vanier announced his bid for the Contra Costa District Attorney’s seat Thursday with a pledge to fight crime not just in the court, but in the community.

    Vanier will face Contra Costa District Attorney Mark Peterson, who has announced his candidacy for re-election in 2018.

    At the campaign kickoff party at the Amador Rancho Community Center in San Ramon, Vanier pledged to bring respect and ethics back to the office of the district attorney, a jab at Peterson who has confessed to misusing campaign funds.

    A former Contra Costa deputy district attorney, Vanier has served as the supervising deputy district attorney for Santa Clara County’s narcotics prosecution team since 2006.

  • PROSECUTOR PATRICK VANIER ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR CONTRA COSTA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY

    SAN RAMON – Thursday, Patrick Vanier, Supervising Deputy District Attorney for the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office Narcotics Prosecution Team, will be joined by more than 100 supporters as he kicks off his campaign for Contra Costa County District Attorney.

    Vanier has been a prosecutor for almost 20 years and has prosecuted hundreds of criminals; both in the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office and now in the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
